14th February 2016

Hi!

A new blog for everyone. Our holiday to Scotland in February 2016.

Looking like an amazing week ahead as we are due for a lot of cold weather, sandwiched between high pressure either side of the week, so lots of sunshine too. It's been snowing quite a bit since we arrived.

We clocked about 330 miles from Manchester. We stayed in Preston overnight to shave about an hour off the journey. We were pretty late leaving, as we enjoyed exchanging Valentine's day cards and gifts first before leaving.

The journey was quite easy. We had fabulous sunshine most of the way, until we reached the highlands of Scotland. We had a short coffee break at Gretna Green. And another break at Perthshire.

Once we arrived, it was snowing very heavily so we back the car up to the lodge and unpacked as soon as practically possible. We then headed to the barn for a holiday drink.

Me and Kathryn had made a reservation at a Italian restaurant in Aviemore. As the snow was quite heavy, and the temperature dropping to below zero even before sunset, we opted to make the short 30 minute walk to the restaurant rather than drive.

We had a lovely walk in the snow, the restaurant was packed with mainly families but thankfully we had a table away from the main patrons in a conservatory. We had prosseco, along with lasagna for Kathryn and Cannelloni for me. The food was very quick, but we were able to stay and enjoy our wine for a while.

The walk back was very cold, and the skies were clear showing lots of star. However it soon clouded over and started to snow. Thankfully we got back just as we were starting to get covered.
